Star Trek on Netflix #99 - Update

w00t, it's done! Doneish (yep my words sometimes end in ish...)

I have finished TOS on Netflix. TOS - The Original Series. Most of the time it was good, for a TV Show that was in the late 60s. In fact most of the time I was amazed at the special effects they had "back in the day" LOL. I say back in the day but it really wasn't that long ago!

The Day Zero goal is to watch each series of Star Trek on Netflix from start to stop. So I have finished TOS, and need a break. At times I wanted to gouge my eyes out with a pen due to the crazy WTF episodes. There were quite a few times that I had to watch a single episode in multiple sittings.

Of course I had some times when it was just funny, the acting sometimes was at best "interesting" My favorite(being sarcastic) is the lighting for women in all of the shows!

These are the best examples I could find, but just watch one episode and you'll see what I am talking about!!

Just cracks me up!

Of course we know how William Shatner acts, and it was very apparent here! But this is what he was BORN to do! LOL

With all of that being said! I am going from air dates to watch all of the episodes in order so I do not miss anything as if I was watching them all as they came on TV.

This is the best site I could find with each episode and movie in order: Star Trek List

Right now I am watching the First Star Trek Movie, I will review it after I am done. All together I would give TOS a solid A. It was fun to watch and I can see the appeal of the millions of Trekkie's!!

Still with the new tradition, here is an awesome video!!!

Updates...Updates....Hear all about them!

It's has been super crazy as I said in my last post around The Hendo house!

Let's see what has all happened?!?!

I got a new job, I am not a Physician Liaison still with the same company. It's a lot different than working at the Help Desk. I am one of the Liaison's between the doctors and IT. It's fun, and stressful at times.

I do miss everyone I worked with at the Desk, they are my work family for sure. Luckily sometimes I am able to go back and visit, if just for a bit, but always fun!!

The people I work with now are great too, I have made some friends and every time we get together they are always fun! I know it's not a great way to describe work, but if it's not fun there is no reason to be there IMO!

Another update, The Hubs officially broke then fixed our Lawn Mower! LOL, I know not that exciting but it was a LONG process and took about a month! We are super lucky to live down the hill from my in-laws so while the mower was broken The Hubs' dad came down to mow our lawn for us. As you can see we have a lot to mow!!

This is a part of our back yard.
We've been doing some updating to the house, and all that jazz but that is for another post!! Other than that it's just been super busy and crazy with work, work and more work.

Upcoming posts:

Star Trek, The House, Update to the Day Zero Blog, a 30 day Challenge and much more!!

I have decided to start a new tradition, I am going to post a video with each post. Different types of videos each time, we'll see how it goes over!!! Enjoy!

Man...It's been a while!

Life has been super crazy at The Hendo House! It is insane around these parts (Yes, I did say that with a southern drawl).

I have missed you all, I have missed you all a lot!

I started a new job with the same company and for the first month I was training with someone each day so I did not get a chance to update my blog like I used to. But now training is over and I am able to be on my own during the days. In the coming posts I will say a little more about my new job, how I miss my co-workers desperately at my previous job, and just general updates on everything!

I am starting to work on my Day Zero List again. Yes, some of the items will have to be redone and some of them I have been working on even though I haven't been able to blog about them.

I hope my post finds you all well, and wish to hear from each of you! Comments are the best (Hint Hint, Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink!!)

I will leave you today with a super cute video I of course found on Pinterest! Makes me want to get a puppy!!

CPR!!! #34

Soooo in High school I had my CPR, because everyone in Gym class had to take it. I never got renewed it because there was no reason to. Of course there is always a reason but I never could see it before.

So when my Sister C said she would teach me I was excited!! C is a Critical Care Paramedic so she knows her stuff. It also was nice because S my coworker and his wife needed to get their CPR renewed.

We has planned to have the meeting at my house, it's the biggest and most room so we could all be in the same room. C was able to bring a few of the Paramedics she works with to renew their CPR as well.

It was a lot of fun, about 2 and a half hours and a couple of people that I didn't know. But They were people my sisters worked with. All in All we all passed the test and it was a nice gathering.

Below are some pictures, Once I have my card I'll post a picture!!

M(red) A(black) and 2 of C's co-workers watching the video!

S(Blue) K(Purple) and Me :)

The Entire Class!!

C had said something so we were looking at her, well those of us who were paying attention!!

It was a fun time, I'm glad we were all able to get it certified!! All together we has, S(co-worker) K(S's Wife) M(my little Sister) A(M's co-worker) and 2 of C's co-workers.

Get a New Job, or be Promoted in the Job I have #54

When I wrote this on my Day Zero project I was thinking that I would be working on a promotion or a new job in about 2 years. But fate stepped in and I was able to work on it faster.

As most know I work in IT, and a Help Desk located at a Hospital. We answer calls for a lot of different places, in quite a few states. I am not saying a lot because I have no desire for my job to see anything about this post, and I have no desire for anyone to relate this back to my job!

I love the people I work with, I dislike very much my job. It's not as bad as others I have had in the past but with the politics that happen in the office(not with my co-workers but with the Management) it is almost like pulling your hair out everyday.

I decided I had enough after they told me that I was going to be getting back on the phone and the job I was doing would be going away. I had been told in the past that the position I was working at would be moved to a different department, and I would be moving with it. That never happened, and frankly I'm glad.

I was able to apply and interview for a Physician Liaison position. This is a couple of steps above the job I do now. Luckily I was able to get the position. I think it is a good fit, and love the idea of working with people one on one. I will be the "right" hand of the physicians I am working with.

So I guess a few years ahead of schedule but I can cross this one off my list! I start on Monday, and will miss my co-workers very much but look forward to this new opportunity.

Finish The entire Star Trek Series on Netflix #99

Man, this is taking forever!!!!!

One of my goals is a very geeky one and I'm good with it! To finish the all of the series of Star Trek that is on Netflix.

I have started with the original series. So far I am on episode 19. I usually only watch right before bed, and at lunch at work. It is going to take forever if I keep at this pace. I added it up, about a year and a half for the entire series.

The Hubs heard me watching an episode he said, "Nothing like a 70's soap". It's so true! I love that it's so old, sometimes though it makes it very hard to watch. The fight scenes crack me up!!

It just makes is super hard to watch at times. I was talking with the guys I work with and they have decided I have to watch the rest of the series in order of release. So I will either be looking that up online or making an excel sheet.

Wish me Luck!!!

Cooking #36

I wanted to apologize for it being so long since the last post!! It has been super crazy around the Hendo House, Starting a business, getting a promotion at my current job, and just general life!! But I'm back on the wagon and will be posting more often!!!

So here we go!!!

#36 off of the Day Zero project is to try 100 new recipes that we have never had before. I am going to use the first one mainly because we have never cooked it ever, even though we have had them!!

What are they you ask?! French Dips.

They were so good! The Hubs purchased the crock pot at his work, and it is amazing! It has clasps so you can transport the entire pot.
Amazing Crock Pot!

I went to the store and they had a great deal. Beef Roast for $11 but you got Dinner Rolls, Salad, and a Mashed potato side all for free. I was excited! We used the sides for another dinner and saved the Roast until we got the Crock Pot.

We put the meat in the pot with water, and some spices that The Hubs decided to throw in. After about 8 hours this is what it turned into!!

Then The Hubs took it out of the pot and started to shred it with a fork because it was so tender.
 OMG, it smelled soooo good!!!!

Then We got our bread out and filled the sandwiches with the meat and put provolone cheese on top too!!

Then The Hubs put them in the oven to toast the bread and melt the cheese!!

He was super excited to use his stove again!! Then it was all over with only took about 5-7 minutes to get them nice and toasty!

Amazing!!!!!!

Movies! #78

I am on my way to getting the 1 movie a week in! This past week I watched, When Harry Met Sally. I had never seen it before, only the iconic scenes that everyone talks about from that movie.

I really enjoyed this movie! Just the funny parts of it. I once again asked The Hubs if he wanted to watch it with me, he just looked at me as if I had a 2nd head. Oh well, maybe one of these days!!

The whole idea behind When Harry Met Sally is great. I can not think of a time where I have seen the same storyline play out in the way that it did. Of course there have been the times where growing up as kids then the characters fall in love. But I can't think of another movie that the 2 main characters have met, disliked each other, met again, disliked each other again. Then finally met and became friends and eventually fell in love. It was refreshing even though the movie is a "classic" according to my list.

I do have to admit I started to watch the movie, then about 45 minutes into it stopped went had dinner played some MMO's and then came back and watched the rest. So it was a great movie once the main part started but I can see where some people do not like it.

Of course we have to talk about the famous scene with Meg Ryan and the fake sex. This is the most talked about part of the movie, I was waiting for it because that is the only part I had really seen before. It was funny, then of course the lady that says, "I'll have what she's having". It was super funny and I get why it was quoted so much!!

Overall I would give the movie a 3.5 of 5 stars. It was good and of course made in the 80's. I did love the twist of her getting mad after they had sex. I mean come on, you knew what was going on and you knew that's the way he acted. Heck it would be super weird for anyone!!

We'll see if I like this weeks movie better!

SWTOR - Star Wars -- #95 -Try a different MMO.

I am going to start this post with saying I love WoW(World of Warcraft). It has and always will be my First and Favorite MMO.

Alright down to business, an MMO is a Massively Multi-player online game. Part of my Day Zero List was #95 to Try another MMO. Right now I play WoW. It is an online game that is played by over 11 Million people throughout the world. I got started in the game while The Hubs and I were dating. I saw him playing, I knew of the game but never knew how to play. I started to watch him over his shoulder and then he got me a trail account so I could try myself. It was a lot of fun. The big aspect that I love about the game is the social component.

For me it was the fact that I could be in a game, playing a character and meet people all over the world! I have friends on there from Europe, Australia, Japan. It is a great way to get social interaction. It has always been about the social for me. I have played now for about 5 years. The Hubs has played for a lot longer than I have, he was one of the first people to get into WoW and play it from Vanilla WoW, as it's called(classic to the rest of the world) in 2004. There have been many expansions to the game so it keeps us as players interested.  The game itself is based off of books, The Hubs has read them all. He loves the lore of the books and the game.

Here are what the different Logo's have looked like over the years and expansion!!
Orgional
Burning Crusade
Wrath of the Lich King
Cataclysm
I love WoW! It is a very fun time and a place where you can get lost and not have to worry about the everyday world. There have been people that get addicted to it and that can be bad. I know I play a lot, but during wedding planning I stopped playing for a while. It was a hard decision after we got married to go back or not. I'm glad I did.

Here are a couple of pictures of Beeleave off  WoW. I love her hair!!

Full Shot

Head Shot
Now Star Wars: The Old Republic is another MMO that just came out this year. The Hubs was really big into trying it. They allowed him to beta test the game. I logged into his account to see what it was like. It was nice. I still wasn't sure if I wanted to play. Some people online were saying it was a WoW killer. I doubt that simply because 11million people play WoW.

I will give SWTOR it is a great game. After about a month of The Hubs and all of our friends playing I decided it was time. I got an account and LOVE IT!!!! I play a Bounty Hunter(like Boba Fett & Jango Fett from the Movie) as heals. I love healing on WoW my main toon is a Priest healer. It is a lot of fun, it also helps that I play with all of the people I know in real life. I love the cut away scenes. Almost every quest you get goes with a story the NPC you are getting the quest from tells you why you are getting whatever they are asking for.

Of course when you have a name and like it might as well use it on both games, Plus all the people who play WoW with me know who I am!! So here's Beeleave off SWTOR
Head Shot, I couldn't get a full body!

Overall I'd say SWTOR is a great game, a WoW killer no. Will I stop playing WoW? Nope, will I only play one or the other after a while? Yep. Why you ask because at $15 a month per game adds up at the end of the day, then add The Hubs playing and $60 a month in total is a little much!! But I am glad that I was able to cross a project off my Day Zero list!!

I will leave you with a couple of WoW commercials! They are super funny and amazing that they have all these actors that want to be a part of WoW!! (Just shows you what my favorite game really is)

                                                            Ozzy - Horde
                                                 Chuck Norris - Alliance
                                                            Mr. T

Movies #78

First I wanted to apologize for not writing more.  I have been fighting a cold and now an Ear Infection so I haven't been writing posts! No worries I am on horse pills now and hope to be done with it by the end of the week!

Now onto Movies :)

This weekend we watch The Princess Bride. By we I mean A and I.

A After the Movie! She loved it!!
I have to say I've seen the movie at least 5 times and every time it just keeps getting better! A had never see it before so it was exciting to see it with her. Our other friend DD George told A a long time ago that she was going to revoke her friendship card because A had never seen the movie.

I love, love, love this movie. If I ever had kids this is one that they would HAVE to watch. It is just such a great story with it's quirks that make it a classic! Just the humor behind the lines and the fact that you can take the story as something that might have really happened. With all of the fairy tales that are incorporated into the story it still has that "down to earth" feel.

Wesley & Buttercup

My favorite character of the entire movie is Inigo Montoya. I love the idea of his character. Super funny with his words yet very serious. Mandy Patinkin the actor is one of my favorites as well. He does such a good job showing the emotion Inigo feels about the loss of his father. I love the scene when he is waiting for Wesley to climb up the rocks so they can duel. The he helps him up the rocks and allows him to rest before the duel. He then asks him if he has 6 fingers on his left hand. The movie was put together in a way there were clear cut villains and heroes. But only after doing bad does Inigo Montoya come out as a good guy.

Inigo Montoya
I wanted to see what A had to say about the movie, during the first 10 minutes she stop and said there have been so many great 1 liners. I agree, this movie is full of quotes and the best part is that the younger generations are starting to watch it too. Anyone can watch this movie and relate at some point in time, and will laugh a lot of the time. Just the satire of the entire movie makes it worth the watch. I do not own the movie, however I have added it to my list of movies to buy. I could watch it over and over again!

I am going to leave you with pictures of fun stuff that happened. I know these pictures will mean a lot to everyone that has seen the movie!

Movies!!! #78

Here we are another week into the New year, and another week into the Day Zero project!!

I am on week 2 of my 52 week goal of a new movie each week from the 2 top 100 Lists. This week I am going to watch from the Non-Modern list. However The movie I have picked seems to me is more modern than the others on the list. However I am waiting for our Netflix to come so I needed to pick one that is on Instant watch!

Tonight I will be watching Die Hard! I know I have seen it before, but it was so long ago I only remember who is in it and not really what it is about!

When I got home I started the movie, of course on the computer and The Hubs was play SWTOR, he asked what I was going to watch this week I told him, he looked at me and said, "Die Hard, Really?! Have you seen any of the Die Hard movies?" I told him yes, and he said well there you go, you don't need to watch it! Needless to say, he wasn't going to watch it with me! He put his headphones on and started watching Bones(My All Time Favorite Show).

I finished the movie, and I have to say not what I was expecting. I think I've seen maybe the 2nd or 3rd Die Hard and thought it was the first. This movie was definitely a product of the 80's. Please don't get me wrong, the 80's had great times, but this movie was not one of them.

Bruce Willis - John McClane

It wasn't bad per-say just wasn't that good. I love Bruce Willis, he plays some great characters. This was a typical Cop, and he did a good job. Made me like him, even though he had obvious flaws.

By far my favorite person in the whole movie was the Limo Driver. Just because he was funny, he added that little comic relief that was needed. But he was only on screen for a total of 15 minutes. But did a great job!

De'voreaus White - Argyle

There were bad guys too, and they were good actors, All speaking in Dutch maybe?! Not 100% sure they didn't talk enough for me to know for sure.

To be honest with you I am having a hard time with this one. As I told The Hubs after the movie was done at 10:45 I was ready for bed. I usually don't head to bed until 12:45am. That tells me a lot about how I didn't like the movie. I know this also because I was on Pintrest the entire time as well.

With all of that being said I'd give the movie a 2.5 out of 5 starts. Here are some more pictures. But not a very good review this time! Sorry :)

The LAPD cop that believe John in the Movie.
This was the lead bad guy. He did an excellent job.

There is a dark, cold space under our stairs... #62

It's true! There was a dark, cold space under our stairs that didn't do anything. There were 2 openings to it. One behind the TV shelving unit we have, and the other in the Kitchen downstairs behind the fridge that is in there. What a waste of space. I know normally there isn't really anything under the stairs but in our house we don't have a ton of storage if we have all of the rooms full. We needed somewhere to put our crap! LOL, and by crap I mean Christmas decorations!!

This is what it looked like when we started! Behind the Fridge!

So I asked The Hubs what he thought about making the hole under the stairs bigger, now that Christmas was over and we needed to put the decorations away. He just looked at me for a second like I was from Mars, then he realized what I was talking about!! He said he'd have to take a look. Well 2 weeks went by nothing....nothing...nothing... Then I realized we both had a day off together. I asked him what we needed to do, he said call his Dad to have him take a look.

So that happened and H's Dad came down(a very nice man that knows EVERYTHING) took and look and said we should be good to go because the 2x4 that was in the middle of the wall was not a supporting beam.

Next thing I know The Hubs is walking back in the house with a Saws-all and Table Saw, went strait downstairs and went to work!

The Hubs Getting ready to do some work!!

It was nice to get started. This was our first "demolition" project in the house. Not that is was that big, The Hubs and I have done much bigger projects at my Dad's house. But it was fun. I had to get dinner ready to I left The Hubs to his thing.

I came back downstairs to find a bigger hole in the wall and the vacuum being used! The Hubs does like our Dyson so he vacuum's more than I do! I was excited to see what it looked like so I could start shoving stuff in there!!!

Big empty hole!!!

Bam!! It is clean and man that's a lot of space!! I was super excited. I figured we'd only have enough space to fit a couple of tubs and maybe, just maybe the Christmas Tree! I was wrong, there is a lot of space in there! Now that The Hubs had it all cleaned out we can start packing it up.

We really didn't want to have boxes on the ground just in case the floor got wet for any reason. Who knows, it could happen! But I wanted to put everything in there to get it away. So I decided to pack it all up. When I get some more tubs to put away I will put the tubs on the bottom.

Big not so empty hole!!

Look at that! There is still room for more. I know once I get the other 2 tubs I plan on putting in there we'll be golden! Heck at this point I'm happy it is out of the living room!!

Here is the finished product! I've decided that if I ever need to hide from anyone this is where I"m going. Okay not any of you that are reading, but burglars or anything like that! So if the cops need to find me you can all tell them where to look :)

Finished product, I love it!

So I should end with saying that I had not counted this as a room that we needed to get done for the Day Zero project. So I am going to keep it at 0 done. But I am good with that, it just proves to me that The Hubs and I can get things done around the house and update what we want!!!

Movies, Movies, Movies!! #78

Here we go, I figured this would be a good start to our 1001 day journey with Movies! I love movies, not as much as some people but a good movie goes a long way for a person.

The rules I want to stick to for this goal in the Day Zero project are simple.
  1. I will watch a new movie each week for a year.
  2. All of the movies I can choose from are on 1 of 2 lists.
100 Movies to see before you die
100 Movies to see before you die : The Modern Classics

     3. I must be able to get these movies either on Instant watch on Netflix, or by mail on Netflix. If however a friend has one I can borrow I can watch it that way.
     4. I will not buy any movie that I want to watch out of the 52 weeks of movies.

...And we're off!!

Week 1, I have decided to watch The Big Lebowski. It is from The Modern Classics top 100 movies. I asked The Hubs if he wanted to watch it with me(of course while he was playing SWTOR) he turned and said he'd seen it and didn't need to watch it again. Then he proceeded to turn back to his game and get lost again. I did however ask him again what he thought of it, so I knew what to expect. The Hubs said, he thinks it's was funny. We'll see how that goes!

I just finished watching the movie and I have to say a good way to start this Project! It was good, I can see why it's a Modern Classic. It has super funny parts, and a great story line.
The best part is I was watching it while on the Computer Playing WoW of course, and The Hubs was playing SWTOR and he stopped playing and decided to scoot his chair over so he could see the screen and start watching again with me.

The movie on a whole is just funny, there are parts where it drags and I'm not going to go through the whole movie, but just tell you about parts that I liked a lot!

I love the voice of the story, it is nice that it comes from an outside perspective. You aren't really sure where it comes from but he is revealed in the end. He was the perfect voice of the show, from a "far" away land that was not part of the story.

Sam Elliott - The Sranger
Of course there is one main charter, but we all know there are a couple of supporting characters. John Goodman plays a crazy vet that was in Vietnam. He works so well as this person, he is funny. Plays getting mad very well, and is very believable.

John Goodman plays Walter & Jeff Bridges plays "The Dude"
There are so many great quotes in this movie, such great lines. It was very well written. I did find myself wondering off towards the middle. I wasn't really bored but I could find something else to do while watching the movie. My favorite line of the movie was in the beginning where the whole story starts that will play out for the rest of the movie. It was from "The Dude" when he was getting beaten for information on a wife he doesn't have. He stated, "At least I'm house broken". You can only image what it was about! Funny stuff!!

Overall I would recommend this movie to anyone that hasn't seen it. The twists and turns of all the players are great. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 starts. Worth watching once to say you've seen it!

Day Zero!!

Like I stated before we are going to start the Day Zero Project! However The Hubs has decided to not participate, His loss!

The Day Zero project is a list of 101 items you want to complete in 1001 days. They don't have to be mind blowing items, or just everyday things. That's the beauty, you can pick for yourself. It is not a preset goal, or something your spouse or friends want you to do. It is completely up to you!

I was like other people and thought, I'll add crazy things, and then some random ones that no one will really care about. As I was making my list I realized how hard it was for me to decide what I wanted to put on there. It took almost an entire week to decide. I would add a few then come back to the list take something off that I didn't find fitting any longer. In the end I think I have a great list of tasks that I can complete!

If you want to read a little more about it you can go here : Day Zero Project

I wanted to have several things on my list, and mainly want to make a change for the better with this project. I know it will not take over my life, however I do want it to make an impact.

I have been lucky enough to have a few friends start their lists before me so I have been able to see how they set them up. It's been great, because I know that I want to have a few "big" things on my list, however I know to keep in mind that it is something that will either cost money or I will need to be able to back it up and finish this list!

I am starting today, December 30th, 2011 my Day Zero list should be done on September 26th, 2014!!

So here we go! Here's hoping we'll get them done!!!
