Finish The entire Star Trek Series on Netflix #99

Man, this is taking forever!!!!!

One of my goals is a very geeky one and I'm good with it! To finish the all of the series of Star Trek that is on Netflix.

I have started with the original series. So far I am on episode 19. I usually only watch right before bed, and at lunch at work. It is going to take forever if I keep at this pace. I added it up, about a year and a half for the entire series.

The Hubs heard me watching an episode he said, "Nothing like a 70's soap". It's so true! I love that it's so old, sometimes though it makes it very hard to watch. The fight scenes crack me up!!

It just makes is super hard to watch at times. I was talking with the guys I work with and they have decided I have to watch the rest of the series in order of release. So I will either be looking that up online or making an excel sheet.

Wish me Luck!!!

Movies! #78

I am on my way to getting the 1 movie a week in! This past week I watched, When Harry Met Sally. I had never seen it before, only the iconic scenes that everyone talks about from that movie.

I really enjoyed this movie! Just the funny parts of it. I once again asked The Hubs if he wanted to watch it with me, he just looked at me as if I had a 2nd head. Oh well, maybe one of these days!!

The whole idea behind When Harry Met Sally is great. I can not think of a time where I have seen the same storyline play out in the way that it did. Of course there have been the times where growing up as kids then the characters fall in love. But I can't think of another movie that the 2 main characters have met, disliked each other, met again, disliked each other again. Then finally met and became friends and eventually fell in love. It was refreshing even though the movie is a "classic" according to my list.

I do have to admit I started to watch the movie, then about 45 minutes into it stopped went had dinner played some MMO's and then came back and watched the rest. So it was a great movie once the main part started but I can see where some people do not like it.

Of course we have to talk about the famous scene with Meg Ryan and the fake sex. This is the most talked about part of the movie, I was waiting for it because that is the only part I had really seen before. It was funny, then of course the lady that says, "I'll have what she's having". It was super funny and I get why it was quoted so much!!

Overall I would give the movie a 3.5 of 5 stars. It was good and of course made in the 80's. I did love the twist of her getting mad after they had sex. I mean come on, you knew what was going on and you knew that's the way he acted. Heck it would be super weird for anyone!!

We'll see if I like this weeks movie better!

Movies #78

First I wanted to apologize for not writing more.  I have been fighting a cold and now an Ear Infection so I haven't been writing posts! No worries I am on horse pills now and hope to be done with it by the end of the week!

Now onto Movies :)

This weekend we watch The Princess Bride. By we I mean A and I.

A After the Movie! She loved it!!
I have to say I've seen the movie at least 5 times and every time it just keeps getting better! A had never see it before so it was exciting to see it with her. Our other friend DD George told A a long time ago that she was going to revoke her friendship card because A had never seen the movie.

I love, love, love this movie. If I ever had kids this is one that they would HAVE to watch. It is just such a great story with it's quirks that make it a classic! Just the humor behind the lines and the fact that you can take the story as something that might have really happened. With all of the fairy tales that are incorporated into the story it still has that "down to earth" feel.

Wesley & Buttercup

My favorite character of the entire movie is Inigo Montoya. I love the idea of his character. Super funny with his words yet very serious. Mandy Patinkin the actor is one of my favorites as well. He does such a good job showing the emotion Inigo feels about the loss of his father. I love the scene when he is waiting for Wesley to climb up the rocks so they can duel. The he helps him up the rocks and allows him to rest before the duel. He then asks him if he has 6 fingers on his left hand. The movie was put together in a way there were clear cut villains and heroes. But only after doing bad does Inigo Montoya come out as a good guy.

Inigo Montoya
I wanted to see what A had to say about the movie, during the first 10 minutes she stop and said there have been so many great 1 liners. I agree, this movie is full of quotes and the best part is that the younger generations are starting to watch it too. Anyone can watch this movie and relate at some point in time, and will laugh a lot of the time. Just the satire of the entire movie makes it worth the watch. I do not own the movie, however I have added it to my list of movies to buy. I could watch it over and over again!

I am going to leave you with pictures of fun stuff that happened. I know these pictures will mean a lot to everyone that has seen the movie!

Movies!!! #78

Here we are another week into the New year, and another week into the Day Zero project!!

I am on week 2 of my 52 week goal of a new movie each week from the 2 top 100 Lists. This week I am going to watch from the Non-Modern list. However The movie I have picked seems to me is more modern than the others on the list. However I am waiting for our Netflix to come so I needed to pick one that is on Instant watch!

Tonight I will be watching Die Hard! I know I have seen it before, but it was so long ago I only remember who is in it and not really what it is about!

When I got home I started the movie, of course on the computer and The Hubs was play SWTOR, he asked what I was going to watch this week I told him, he looked at me and said, "Die Hard, Really?! Have you seen any of the Die Hard movies?" I told him yes, and he said well there you go, you don't need to watch it! Needless to say, he wasn't going to watch it with me! He put his headphones on and started watching Bones(My All Time Favorite Show).

I finished the movie, and I have to say not what I was expecting. I think I've seen maybe the 2nd or 3rd Die Hard and thought it was the first. This movie was definitely a product of the 80's. Please don't get me wrong, the 80's had great times, but this movie was not one of them.

Bruce Willis - John McClane

It wasn't bad per-say just wasn't that good. I love Bruce Willis, he plays some great characters. This was a typical Cop, and he did a good job. Made me like him, even though he had obvious flaws.

By far my favorite person in the whole movie was the Limo Driver. Just because he was funny, he added that little comic relief that was needed. But he was only on screen for a total of 15 minutes. But did a great job!

De'voreaus White - Argyle

There were bad guys too, and they were good actors, All speaking in Dutch maybe?! Not 100% sure they didn't talk enough for me to know for sure.

To be honest with you I am having a hard time with this one. As I told The Hubs after the movie was done at 10:45 I was ready for bed. I usually don't head to bed until 12:45am. That tells me a lot about how I didn't like the movie. I know this also because I was on Pintrest the entire time as well.

With all of that being said I'd give the movie a 2.5 out of 5 starts. Here are some more pictures. But not a very good review this time! Sorry :)

The LAPD cop that believe John in the Movie.
This was the lead bad guy. He did an excellent job.

Movies, Movies, Movies!! #78

Here we go, I figured this would be a good start to our 1001 day journey with Movies! I love movies, not as much as some people but a good movie goes a long way for a person.

The rules I want to stick to for this goal in the Day Zero project are simple.
  1. I will watch a new movie each week for a year.
  2. All of the movies I can choose from are on 1 of 2 lists.
100 Movies to see before you die
100 Movies to see before you die : The Modern Classics

     3. I must be able to get these movies either on Instant watch on Netflix, or by mail on Netflix. If however a friend has one I can borrow I can watch it that way.
     4. I will not buy any movie that I want to watch out of the 52 weeks of movies.

...And we're off!!

Week 1, I have decided to watch The Big Lebowski. It is from The Modern Classics top 100 movies. I asked The Hubs if he wanted to watch it with me(of course while he was playing SWTOR) he turned and said he'd seen it and didn't need to watch it again. Then he proceeded to turn back to his game and get lost again. I did however ask him again what he thought of it, so I knew what to expect. The Hubs said, he thinks it's was funny. We'll see how that goes!

I just finished watching the movie and I have to say a good way to start this Project! It was good, I can see why it's a Modern Classic. It has super funny parts, and a great story line.
The best part is I was watching it while on the Computer Playing WoW of course, and The Hubs was playing SWTOR and he stopped playing and decided to scoot his chair over so he could see the screen and start watching again with me.

The movie on a whole is just funny, there are parts where it drags and I'm not going to go through the whole movie, but just tell you about parts that I liked a lot!

I love the voice of the story, it is nice that it comes from an outside perspective. You aren't really sure where it comes from but he is revealed in the end. He was the perfect voice of the show, from a "far" away land that was not part of the story.

Sam Elliott - The Sranger
Of course there is one main charter, but we all know there are a couple of supporting characters. John Goodman plays a crazy vet that was in Vietnam. He works so well as this person, he is funny. Plays getting mad very well, and is very believable.

John Goodman plays Walter & Jeff Bridges plays "The Dude"
There are so many great quotes in this movie, such great lines. It was very well written. I did find myself wondering off towards the middle. I wasn't really bored but I could find something else to do while watching the movie. My favorite line of the movie was in the beginning where the whole story starts that will play out for the rest of the movie. It was from "The Dude" when he was getting beaten for information on a wife he doesn't have. He stated, "At least I'm house broken". You can only image what it was about! Funny stuff!!

Overall I would recommend this movie to anyone that hasn't seen it. The twists and turns of all the players are great. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 starts. Worth watching once to say you've seen it!
